About Me

Let me introduce myself. My name is Katie and I’ve worked in education for more than 20 years, but am still as passionate about helping young people as when I first became a teacher.

I graduated from Durham University with a secondary PGCE in Music and English and  spent many years teaching in a variety of schools and educational settings. As well as mainstream settings, I also spent several years teaching and mentoring young people who were unable to access mainstream education. I have experience working with children from Key Stage 2 all the way up to Key Stage 4 and understand that every child learns differently and has differing needs.

As well as teaching, I decided to complete further training which enabled me to understand how our young people develop and how we can build on their learning experiences to make education become as rounded and fulfilling as possible. Training in psychology gave me a much wider insight into how we learn and how we can work together to break down some of the barriers to learning.

As a mum myself, I understand just how important our children are for the future and how important it is to invest time and energy into enabling our future generations be as amazing as we know they can be.
